We made it!

Our trip took longer than I had hoped for. We left Sat. at about 10:30. So by the time we made it to Kanab at 6:30 we had all had it with traveling. So we stayed the night at the Best Western and left Sun. morning at about 8:00. We arrived in Kearns (outside of Salt Lake City) at about 1:30. It was 2 long days. Ross and his parents came up Sunday and got here at about 7:30. It started to snow Monday morning while we were unloading all our stuff and snowed most of the day. Then it snowed most of the next day and ALL of Christmas Day. Then some of the next day. We have about 14 inches of snow. The big girls have loved playing in the snow, and when I find my camera I'll get pictures, but until then just know there is A LOT of snow! The little girls and Wes have had to learn to climb up and down stairs, Paige fell all the way down Sunday.
I am a little slow getting the last few Christmas card out because I can't find them right now, but I will get the last few out, sorry.

New background, New thought

I am NOT trying to be sacrilegious here, but I have a thought. I know my mom and Kathy are saying,"OH NO!", but hear me out. I love this background and it made me think about the wise men who traveled far. What did they think they would find? They had been watching and waiting for the new star, and when it appeared I wonder how that conversation went.
1)Hey look, is that new?
2)I don't know, let's get the charts.
1)I don't know where they are.
2)I think it's new, what do you think?
3)I think we should look at the charts.
2)I'm trying to find them. Where were they the last time you saw them?
1)I don't remember.
Well this is that would have happened at my house. They were probably more organized. But it still makes me wonder about their lives. Did they just drop everything and start their journey or was there more planning to be put in it? Whatever the story from their end I'm glad that they went and that I can teach my children about their faith in a star and faith in the man the star led them to.

Now you have caught up.

In the last few weeks we have had alot going on. Wes turned 2 on the 14th of Oct. Dylan turned 7 on the 4th. I turned 31 on the 4th. Dylan got her hair cut. All of the kids got some weird stomach flu virus, I don't know what you want to call it. We announced that I AM NOT PREGO, but that we are moving to Utah. One of my best friends bought a house. (YEA, Paulette!!!) All the kids got flu shots, Victoria, Dylan and Paige didn't shed a tear, Wes and Piper on the other hand, well that's a whole other bucket of worms. I went to the midnight showing of Twilight, loved it, but LOVE the book more. Well that's all I can think of now.
I remembered more! I cut my hair, my mom came to visit, and I went to Time Out For Women and Girls. It wasn't as much fun as Time Out For Women, but I still really loved going. Paulette went with me and now has been shown the joys of a really good Time Out. Go with her next year I won't be here or you can all come to Utah and come with me and my mom to the one in Ogden. http://deseretbook.com/time-out/schedule

SOOOOOOOOOO far behind!!!

I am so far behind in pictures (sorry mom). So here are pictures.

Our Struggles

In the last few weeks I have been thinking a lot about the struggles in my life and in others. I often think about the line in Legacy when the main character asks, "Is he truly aware of us." referring to Heavenly Father. I think in life that we wonder if we are in our struggles alone. If we find our selves in the pit spoke of by Joseph Smith.

THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
SECTION 122
The word of the Lord to Joseph Smith the Prophet, while he was a prisoner in the jail at Liberty, Missouri, March 1839. HC 3: 300–301.
1–4, The ends of the earth shall inquire after the name of Joseph Smith; 5–7, All his perils and travails shall give him experience and be for his good; 8–9, The Son of Man hath descended below them all.
1 The ends of the earth shall inquire after thy name, and fools shall have thee in derision, and hell shall rage against thee;
2 While the pure in heart, and the wise, and the noble, and the virtuous, shall seek counsel, and authority, and blessings constantly from under thy hand.
3 And thy people shall never be turned against thee by the testimony of traitors.
4 And although their influence shall cast thee into trouble, and into bars and walls, thou shalt be had in honor; and but for a small moment and thy voice shall be more terrible in the midst of thine enemies than the fierce lion, because of thy righteousness; and thy God shall stand by thee forever and ever.
5 If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land or by sea;
6 If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;
7 And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
8 The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?
9 Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever.

I have always had a hard time with the "shall be for thy good." When you are in the middle of what ever problem you can never see the good for you part. I have even been though a problem and not know what part of it was good for me. I forget that sometimes it is months, years or maybe even decades before I see the "good" of my struggle. I have wondered if the "good" of my struggles were not to help me, but maybe my kids when they are older. Maybe the struggles we had with the birth of the twins will help my daughters someday. I will never forget not wanting to touch Piper in the NICU because I felt so guilty that my body had let her down and she was now having problems breathing. I hope that my childern will never have to know that pain, but if they do I will understand better then they know. I guess all we can do in the end is remember, "for God shall be with you forever and ever." D&C 122:9

17??? Maybe.

You Act Like You Are 17 Years Old

You are a teenager at heart. You don't quite feel like a grown up yet, but you don't feel like a kid.

You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

You're quite rebellious, and you don't like being told what to do. You like to do things your way.

You have your own unique style, taste in music, and outlook on life.

Thanks Laurie, I love that it says you don't quite feel like a grown up yet. Someone had better tell my kids that!

We had fun swimming in the lake and riding 4 wheelers. On Sat. we moved camp to the big group site. (My parents camp with a group from their ward every 4th of July.) Ross and I were about to get in to bed Sat. night when I hear my dad on the phone with my aunt, telling her that my grandma had passed away. (My mom's mom.) So the next day we packed up everything and headed for Salt Lake. The rest of the week we hung out at my parents house and the kids went swimming every night.

On Sat. we went to my grandmother's funeral. We moved around alot at kids so I never really felt a strong attachment to my grandparents, not that I don't love them I do and did, but I don't feel I really knew them. Living away from them still is hard. This is something I never want my kids to feel. My mom kept telling everyone who called or came over that she was ok because I was there. I don't know what I did to make it easier, but I guess I did.

I took my camera to the funeral but the only pictures we took were these 2. Wes and Paige sleeping on the way.
Well we came home on Sun the 13th. No broken bones, no one sick, everyone was just tired and ready to get out of the van. THE END
The "big" kids had swimming lessons this summer. They loved every minute of them.

Utah or Bust

So off we go to Utah for 11 great days of adventure, oh boy did we have an adventure. We left the 3rd at about 7am. Things go great we get to Flagstaff and get gas and on we go. 31.9 miles after we got gas we over heat. Really bad, I mean we can't get it to go down for more then 2 minutes. So we are stuck at a gas station in the middle of no where. We paid $20.00 for 2 liters of water and a gallon of coolant. The kids are getting restless and I'm so mad, sad and everything in between that I start to cry as I call my mom and tell her I don't think we can make it. The girls start to question why the van is not working. I ask them if they know who Satan is. Dylan tells me "The bad guy!" I then tell them that when you are doing something you know you are supposed to that Satan tries to stop you. I told them we are supposed to go to Utah and Satan doesn't want us to. A few minutes later I hear Dylan in a very nasty voice say "Satan leave our van alone! Leave us alone!" So we start back to Flag. and there is not problem, we go a little faster still no problem. We make it to Flag. going the speed limit, no problem. Ross gets something he thinks will solve our problem, does what ever voodoo he does and off to McDonald's we go for lunch. We left PHX at 7am it's non 1pm and we have made it to Flagstaff. Ross' cousin was also headed to Utah and they meet us at McDonald's. We talk for a while then off we go. Praying all the way that we will make it.
We never had another problem with the van the whole trip there and back. We almost hit a truck that had a blow out in front of us. We almost hit a deer, then almost got rear ended by the person behind us, but the van worked fine. We finally made it to Sterling, Ut, where we were camping with my parents at 12 am. What a long day it had been. We made it to Utah and almost busted!

Pre Utah

You all know how bad things tend to happen in threes or more. Well that's what happened pre Utah. One day I go to run to the store and the van won't start, Dave jumps it and I'm off no problems, until Ross needs to go somewhere. We needed a new battery. Ross happened to look at our plates on the van and said, "These have expired, in April." I thought that were good until Aug. or Oct. NOPE. So the next day I go to East Mesa to the MVD, the only one open on Sat. They tell me that our plates have been suspended, for lack of insurance. I told them we had already taken care of that misunderstanding. We have now and always had insurance. They tell me we need to have our agent fax a letter stating this. So I go to my agents office that is SUPPOSED to be open on Sat. NOPE. So Mon. rolls around and an emissions test and $150.00 later we are legal again. Over $200.00 and we haven't even packed to go to Utah. You would think by now that I would have seem a theme forming. NOPE.

Would you or would you not? That is the question.

So I really think it's funny on all the baby shows on TV that they say, "This big family is now bigger with the birth of their third child." WHAT? Are they serious? This always makes me laugh. We have 5, bigger then most I agree, but I don't think it's really that bis at all. My mom comes from a family of 10. That's big, but come on 3? With three kids you can still fit in a car. You don't need anything bigger, it would be more comfortable, but not a necessity. We have 5, I don't believe we are done having kids. The only vehicles we would really fit in is an 8,12, or 15 passenger van. I want the 15 so we never have to worry about space. Yes, you read it right I don't think we are done. I just feel that our family is not complete, but we are complete until Ross is done with school. So here is my question, Would you live a day as me. All 5 kids for the summer? Shopping with all of them, Dr's appointments, the whole shebang? I always wonder what people think when they see us. Well I usually don't have to imagine, they say it out loud. So there is my question. Let me know what you think.
Really let me know. Do you think you could do it? Even if i don't know you feel free to leave your thoughts.
Have a great day!!

Tag

I have never been tagged before.

1. link the person who tagged you (Shellee Mellor http://shelleemellor.blogspot.com/)
2. post these rules
3. tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them

1- I never really dated my husband. We have been friends since we were 9. He came home from his mission in April of 1999, I came home to have surgery in Sept. of 1999.
I was released in Oct. of 1999 and we were engaged Dec. 26th 1999. We were then married Feb. 29th 2000.

2- I have a very sarcastic side. Who me? Never. If there is something to be made fun of, I do it. I am never mean about it, and it is always done in fun, and I'm really good at it. This "talent" has come in handy when times are bad for some of my friends. They call me to complain or vent and end up laughing.

3- I hate being late I would rather not go if we are going to be late. On the other hand I hate it when other people are late. I think it's really rude and inconsiderate. There is a starting time for things for a reason people. i.e Church starts at 9:00 am people, not 9:05. It's just me, it makes me irritated.

4- No matter where I have lived I complain about the way the people in that state drive. In Utah they drive fast, which I don't mind, Ross hates it though. In Arizona they either leave their turn signal on or don't turn it on at all. I Texas they drive slow and don't look where they are going. That is the reason I had to have surgery. The surgery from #1.

5- I love lilies and orchids. LOVE them. Want my whole house to be filled with them. Every room, everywhere. Well any plant will do , but these are my favorites.

6- I hate the grass and lack of grass in Arizona. I want grass that I don't have to replant every 6 months. i want thick green grass that you can roll around in and not have to worry about stiff dead grass.

Well that's me, and some of the weird stuff in my life.

My Dad

My dad is the greatest! I know everybody thinks their dad is, but my dad is the real deal. Who's dad taught them to drive at 8? My dad. Who's dad taught them how to drive a 20+ foot box van for their driving test? My dad. Who's dad taught them to love the outdoors? My dad. Who's dad taught them how to fish? My dad. Who's dad carries a fishing pole in his truck at all times? My dad. Who's dad taught them to dutch oven cook? My dad. Who's dad taught them to use a gun? My dad. Who's dad loves to play practical jokes? You guessed it, my dad. Who's dad was there when his daughter was going off the deep end of life and was there to catch her? MY DAD. Thank you dad for all the things I have seem you do in my life and for all the things I haven't seem you do, that you have done. I'm sad that my kids don't get to know you as I know you, and don't get to love you as I love you.
HAPPY FATHER"S DAY DAD!

Thought

Live, Laugh, Love. If I didn't do this on a daily basis I think I would be insane. There is no doubt in my mind. I can either laugh or cry. I can not do both. This is my day. Laugh or cry? I take laugh. Things seem to be on a roller coaster here. One day up the other down. I think that these people who complain about 2 or 3 kids need their heads examined. I don't even remember 2 or 3 kids any more. Everyday I get up and think if I can make it until 10 am.(nap time for the younger 3.) Then it's can I make it to 3 pm. (Second nap time.) Then Can I make it until 7:30( BEDTIME). That is how I live. I laugh through out the day to keep from going completely crazy. All day long I love. Wes loves to give hugs. Loving is the easiest part of my day. That is how I LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE.

That car are you?

I'm a Ford Mustang!

You're an American classic -- fast, strong, and bold. You're not snobby or pretentious, but you have what it takes to give anyone a run for their money.

"Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

Lost book.

Last Sunday Dylan's primary class talked about getting answers to prayers. she came home and told me a story about a little boy who lost some money and prayed to find it, and did. Fast forward to this last Friday(30th). We were getting ready to go to the library, like we do every Friday, and she couldn't find one of her books. I was getting upset because she had just had it the night before. We were looking all over and no book. I went to look in her room and there she was on the floor. I was getting even more mad because I thought that she was goofing off and not looking. I said, "What are you doing." She said "I'm praying to get help to find my book." I felt so bad. Here I was ready to tell her to stop goofing off and look for her book, and she was praying. I say, "Good for you." Then I went into the front room to look, and feel like a complete idiot. As she started to come down the hall a few seconds later I found the book. The smile on her face is something I will never forget. It is at that moment that she knew prayer were really answered. I told her she needed to say another payer to thank Heavenly Father for helping us. What a great day!

Really helping or just polite.

I'm not saying that people really don't want to help, I just wonder sometimes if they feel like they have to. I am so used to doing everything by my self that when people ask if they can help I usually say, "No I've got it, thanks." But today I was wondering if they felt bad that I would not let them help? I remember hearing a story, true or not I don't know, about a women who was prego with a third or fourth kid. When the Relief Scocity asked if they could bring in meals, she told the no, she had been cooking for weeks and the freezer was full of meals for her family. The Relief Scocity person told her that she always serves others it was their turn to serve her. I have always HATED asking for help, and sometimes feel that people ask if they can help just to be polite. I don't want to burden them if they really don't want to help. Don't get me wrong it was nice that they asked, I just don't want to be a burden. Is any of this making sense? So what do I do? Anyone have any good answers?
